About Me

Hello!

Thank you for visiting my website

I am a Humanistic Psychotherapist. My work with clients is founded on the belief that while we all encounter obstacles in life, we also carry the tools we need to overcome them. In psychotherapy my job is to help you identify the obstacles in your life and be alongside you as you the develop skills and attributes needed to navigate them.

Personal Background

I come from a rural community in Dorset but have lived in Brighton and London as well as in the French Alps. Travelling widely and experiencing other cultures has helped me in getting alongside my clients, to imagine life from many angles.

Qualifications

Counselling Foundation/ Yr 1 MA - Bath Centre for Psychotherapy & Counselling

Post-grad Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling - Metanoia, London

Post-grad Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy - Metanoia, London

MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy (with distinction) - Metanoia, London

Professional Background

Before becoming a therapist, I worked first in television production in London and then in Youth Work in Dorset, where I now live and work.

As a Youth Worker in Poole and Bournemouth I met many inspiring young people from a variety of challenging backgrounds. Witnessing their resilience and the privilege of being a part of their lives, either briefly or over a period of a few years, was what motivated me to become a psychotherapist.

I chose a 'relational' training. This means that the relationship I have with my clients is of as much therapeutic value as the 'work' itself. For many of us, our wounds originate and later reappear in relation to others, so it makes sense that we pay close attention to what evolves in the therapeutic relationship too.

My clients come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. While people may instinctively look for ways to ‘relate’ to their therapist, I am also interested in what makes us different. Often our differences provide rich ground for learning about ourselves and how we function in relationships.

My Training / Modality

A humanistic training means I have chosen an approach that aims to get alongside you in your worldview.

The theories and psychological models learnt in my 6 year (and ongoing - learning never ‘ends’) training are in the background, while YOU are forefront.

I undertake regular CPD in areas of interest or where client work leads me to sharpen up: this ranges from sensorimotor trauma theory, working with trans & non-binary identities to polyvagal theory.

However, if you choose to see me as your therapist, you will be asked to surrender the idea that you are consulting an ‘expert’ who will ‘fix’ your problems. YOU are the expert on you!

My private practice is in Dorset and Chamonix, France. I see people from around the World online.

I am a registered member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) - a regulatory body who quality assure the profession. I subscribe to their ethical framework and complaints procedures.

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing there is a field.
I'll meet you there”.
